It’s good, ripe, and finally time to introduce THE Design Intern (and my trusty sidekick), Lauren! She is also currently a Fashion Merchandising student at Texas State University…. among many other fabulous roles she plays. Lauren is going to school and working in two different cities… talk about amazing! She may be from small town, Woodlands, Texas, but she has big city dreams and it’s exciting…
At CurleeBikini specifically, we are always inspired by our surroundings, whether it’s Mother Nature or a runway look from Milk Studios in New York, we open ourselves up to the possibility of every moment inspiring a new design! Our beautifully unique swimwear is informed as much by a lone tree as it is by runway shows that we discover from afar.
Currently on our radar: Oversized monochromatic drape dominated the runway this season – no complaints here. “Birkenstock” style sandals have taken on evolved designs from 2014; maybe the shower sandal really is here to stay!
Without further ado, our top picks from this season’s New York Fashion Week:
We love ALL of these looks, but there a few designers that have caught our attention the most…
The Row’s past two collections have definitely surprised us. Who knew that the Olsen twins would move beyond their socialite, child-stardom prowess to create such sleek designs via such a strongly branded company? Their take on Parisian-inspired silhouettes is different from most in a way that all of their pieces seem totally without form. According to STYLE, the twins described their line as “raw silk”. They’re definitely not known for saying much when it comes to their designs, but the cohesiveness of their collections say it all for them! The beautifully draped silks in simple colors made this collection much more intriguing than just “raw silks.”
Another favorite is Public School New York. The New York native designers, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osbourne, launched their first collection of womenswear this Spring/Summer 2015 season. Not only are they fitting right in with all the major trends at Fashion Week, but they’ve incorporated their perfect touch of unique street-style. The pieces presented began with simple black and white elegance, then elevating to loud and “chaotic” prints. Chow described “it’s about finding the order out of chaos,” which at CurleeBikini, is a statement we stand by!
Overall, another great season for NYFW! All of these photos were pulled straight from our NYFW Mayhem board on Pinterest. Don’t forget to follow and Pin with us there for your daily dose of CB inspiration! Keep you eyes open, CB Gypsies… you never know where the next inspiration might find you.

As you can see, with the great Summer we’ve had in tow, the Kickstarter Campaign of February was an EXTREME success! CurleeBikini has been so fortunate to develop such a strong group of supporters. From the Kickstarter Campaign to the Runway Show it funded… We say Thank You!!!
We wouldn’t have made it to Austin Fashion Week without our Kickstarter Campaign… Our project was 114% funded!
Summer 2014 Recap Hello there! It is now September and CurleeBikini has had a great summer! So many things have happened since we last blogged. It is now September and CurleeBikini has had a great summer! So many things have happened since we last blogged. Lets do a recap of what has been going on so that we can catch up.
As you guys may have known, we premiered our 4th collection at the 6th Annual Austin Fashion Week (AFW) back in April. We are so thankful to have had such a positive response to the big event! Our “Sun Sabbath” collection, full of kaftans and exotic prints really caught everyone’s eye. CurleeBikini has been getting a lot of attention both in the Austin area, and abroad. We’ve gained a slue of new, local clients over the Summer… which we LOVE doing custom fit sessions with in our bamboo filled studio! Likewise, our swimwear is still selling like wildfire all over the web: from our first, successful wholesale account with UK-based Gather&See to catching Australia’s attention via Instagram. Here are some of our favorite looks from the show and don’t miss our runway video (you’ll feel just like you’re in the front row): CurleeBikini AFW14 Runway Show.
Mallory Curlee even won one of three awards for the Austin Fashion Fund‘s Most Talented Designer. Only a handful of months later, we remember that day as one that will go down in history: full of texts with lots of exclamation points and joyful tears! This award has opened doors to so many new opportunities for CurleeBikini. Some of the prizes include, but are not limited to, an updated logo design by Meldeen, editorial coverage from Fashionably Austin, and a brand new Bernina 560 Sewing Machine! The CurleeBikini Team (as we are becoming a true team these days) could not be more thankful!
2. This Summer’s Custom Swim
Following the fashion show this bikini season has been extremely busy for CurleeBikini… our busiest and most successful Summer yet! Orders have become larger and larger, as we gain more repeat clients and new wholesale accounts. Below are some of the beautiful swimsuits Mallory has been creating as of late. Mallory even produced a bathing suit for a Texas beauty pageant contestant, for her Miss Texas USA showing. Custom swimwear isn’t custom if you can’t do it all!
3. Summer 2015
There are evermore new and exciting things to come as we prep for Summer 2015! First and foremost, we will be showing at Fashion X Dallas on November 6th. We won’t give away too much yet, but there are inspiration images and new fabrics scattered all of the studio at this exact moment… it’s going to be a tropical dream!
Until next time,
In excitement for our upcoming AFW show, let’s talk about CurleeBikini’s first ever fashion show. The first show, debuting CurleeBikini’ Summer 2012 Collection, happened in Vancouver, Canada as part of Eco Fashion Week. Watch the video of first runway show HERE, on our Youtube Channel! I was not part of the CurleeBikini team during this time, but I cannot wait to see the evolution of Mallory’s…
Here’s a fun fact: CurleeBikini launched it’s online boutique on Earth Day 2010! This year, in honor of our FOURTH Anniversary, we have joined with Austin Fashion Week to giveaway one CurleeBikini Swimsuit. You could be the winner of our most coveted one piece, the Fashion Wrap Plunge Monokini, as pictured above. This monokini was a bestseller in 2013 and will be repeated in new color and print combos for Summer 2014! In fact, the swimsuit we are giving away will also be featured on the AFW Runway, Wednesday, April 30th. I won’t tell you exactly when this giveaway is happening… but it’s happening very soon! Sign up for the Austin Fashion Week mailing list HERE and you will be notified of all the giveaway details (and how to enter) via email! Easy, right? Go sign up! Good luck!
With all my love,

Remember that time I did an introduction and I said that I didn’t know any other interesting facts about me? I should have included this one! I actually lived in London for four months in 2012. I’ve been telling Mallory about this town and CurleeBikini would totally fit there. Shoreditch is the area of London in which I lived, it’s on the East End. It is not touristy at all, and felt very much…
CurleeBikini’s Summer2014 collection (launching April 30th at Austin Fashion Week) is called “Sun Sabbath”. Something that’s totally part of our inspiration = MASKS! Above are some of my favorites. The chainmaille mask is definitely a winner for me. It feels very raw and I like that. Masks obviously create a very mysterious element when paired with any look. Is it wrong to say that these dark images make me feel happy? Inspired? These images are just so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. What are are some of your favorite dark inspirations?
With all my love,
Hey CurleeBikini loves! I’m Lan. I am the new and very first Social Media Intern for CurleeBikini! I will be writing the blog posts and updating CurleeBikini’s social media outlets for a bit. Mallory has done every blog post up until now, so don’t freak out if the coming posts have a slightly different voice, it’s still CurleeBikini… it’s just CurleeBikini through my eyes!
Anyway, I am an…
